“If less than 0.1% of the renewable energy in the oceans could be converted to electricity, it would satisfy the present world demand for energy five times over.”

(Marine Foresight Panel Report, House of Commons, London. Office of Science and Technology. May 1997)

Tidal Power US is an introduction to the newest renewable energy technology and its development in the United States. Free-flowing tidal turbines require no fuel, produce no pollution, and have minuscule effect on the environment per unit energy. The resource for tidal energy is enormous, predictable and power dense (water is 1,000 as dense as air). The Northeast has a strong, constant and predictable tidal resource that makes tidal power development more possible and economical on a regional-scale basis than wind or solar. Beyond providing clean, local and renewable energy, tidal power development has the potential to reduce the region's carbon footprint and create thousands of new green jobs.
